Use Sign Squirrel from Claude and ChatGPT

Connect Sign Squirrel to your AI assistant, then ask it to draft an agreement, send it for signature and tell you who has signed.

What the connector does

The Sign Squirrel connector is a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server. Once it's connected, your assistant can:

  • draft an agreement in Markdown and save it to your team as a document;
  • email every signatory their own private signing link;
  • list your team's documents and check who has viewed, signed or declined.

Sign Squirrel adds the signature blocks, consent step, content fingerprint and certificate of completion automatically — the assistant only writes the agreement itself.

The connector URL is:

https://signsquirrel.app/mcp

Each connection is tied to one team, so the assistant never sees other teams' documents. Plan limits are the same as in the web app: the Free plan includes one document per calendar month.

Before you start

  1. Create a Sign Squirrel account or log in.
  2. Switch to the team you want the assistant to work in.
  3. Open AI & API in the sidebar. This is where you create and revoke the credentials the assistant uses.

Add it to Claude

  1. In Claude, open Settings → Connectors.
  2. Choose Add custom connector.
  3. Name it Sign Squirrel and paste https://signsquirrel.app/mcp as the URL.
  4. Select Connect and sign in to Sign Squirrel to approve access for your team. [TODO: confirm — auth flow — OAuth sign-in vs. pasting an API token from AI & API]
  5. In a new chat, turn the Sign Squirrel connector on from the tools menu.

On Team and Enterprise plans, an owner may need to add the connector for the organisation first.

Add it to ChatGPT

[TODO: confirm — app directory listing name and link, once approved]

  1. In ChatGPT, open Settings → Apps & Connectors.
  2. Find Sign Squirrel in the app directory and select Connect.
  3. Until the listing is live, you can add it yourself: under Advanced settings, turn on Developer mode, then choose Create, name it Sign Squirrel and paste https://signsquirrel.app/mcp as the MCP server URL.
  4. Sign in to Sign Squirrel to approve access for your team. [TODO: confirm — auth flow — same as Claude above]
  5. In a chat, pick Sign Squirrel from the tools menu (the + button).

Example prompts

  • "Draft a mutual NDA with Jane at jane@acme.com and send it for signature."
  • "Write a 3-month consulting agreement between Northwind and me at $150/hour. Save it as a draft so I can review it first."
  • "Which of my documents are still waiting on signatures?"
  • "Has Priya signed the consulting agreement yet?"
  • "Send the draft NDA we made yesterday."

Tip: if you'd like to check the wording before anyone gets an email, ask for a draft. You can review and edit it in Sign Squirrel, then send it from the web app or by asking the assistant.

Available tools

ToolWhat it does
create_document Creates a document from a title, the agreement in Markdown, and each signatory's name and email, with an optional personal message. It's saved as a draft by default; the assistant should only send straight away after you confirm.
send_document Sends a draft. The content is frozen and fingerprinted, and every signatory is emailed their private signing link. Sending can't be undone, so the assistant asks you to confirm first.
list_documents Lists up to 50 of your team's documents, newest first, with their status and how many people have signed. Can filter by draft, pending, completed, declined or voided.
get_document Shows one document — its content and, for each signatory, whether they've viewed, signed or declined, and when.

The connector can't delete documents, void them, change billing or manage your team. Do those in the web app.

What the assistant can see

Tool responses include document titles and content, and signatory names, email addresses and statuses. Signatories' private signing links are never shown to the assistant; they only go out by email. That information becomes part of your conversation with the assistant and is handled under the AI provider's privacy policy. See the AI connectors section of our privacy policy for details.

Disconnect

  1. In Sign Squirrel, open AI & API and delete the credential the assistant uses. Access stops immediately.
  2. In Claude, open Settings → Connectors, select Sign Squirrel and choose Remove. In ChatGPT, open Settings → Apps & Connectors, select Sign Squirrel and disconnect it.

Removing the connector in the assistant alone doesn't revoke the credential on our side, so do step 1 as well.
